I think @tparker63 needs to study history himself. Why should we expect schools to teach pride or patriotism? Our kids should learn from the past, unfiltered, so we repeat the successes of those who came before us and learn from their mistakes. They were humans, not gods.

Sir. As a constituent I would love to make sure that this education includes the Mexican (Tejanos) that helped shape the state into what it is today. From land battles to the first mayoral candidates. Mexicans have a story in our states history.

As a Texan who's family was here before The Republic of Texas it's about time factual truth of Texas history be told. Include the killing of Indigenous people, slavery and public hangings. I wasn't taught the REAL Texas history as a school girl in the 1960's.

Tan, I’m a well-educated Texan and I’m going to help you out here: 1. Education should always prioritize truth over patriotism (otherwise it’s propaganda, not education) 2. Texas was founded largely to allow slavery legal protections 3. Be a man and not a propagandist

Wasn't the ideals of Texas founding include "Mexico made slaves illegal, we want to keep them"? Later Texas seceded from the Union for the same reason? Learning past mistakes is the first step in avoiding them in the future.
