Sending prayers to all the people who have had their homes (& lives) shattered by the wrath of hurricane #Laura . Having lived thru a Cat IV myself , donate to the So. Baptist convention & Salvation Army (NOT Red Cross) to help them, seriously !

Why not the Red Cross? I have heard that some people have a problem with the organization, but I have not been able to find out why.
They reportedly use a lot of the money on PR and protecting their trademarks instead of helping. The Salvation Army is considerably worse to donate to, though.

Oh, I see. Oddly enough, I almost signed up to volunteer with their PR department, but then I decided against it.

One small example: the school cafeteria donated coffee, doughnuts, venue & manpower for H. Victims .. Redcross put out coffee cups and told the press THEY were providing all the refreshments
