    “I’m a human being. So are you.” Monsignor Romano reminding our police officer peer support volunteers it’s ok to not be ok. It’s normal to grieve. Part of fighting stigma is acknowledging it’s ok to feel things. And YES, this is being taught to NYPD officers.

    ASKING someone "Are you suicidal" & "Do you have a plan?" does not make someone suicidal. If the answer is YES, sit with them, listen & then direct them to supports. Asking the direct question creates safe space for someone to acknowledge their pain
