Withholding evidence to force a plea is common practice because their goal is to convict at all cost- even if the cost is . must be transparent and accountable. Not only must her cases be reviewed but also discovery reform must be enforced.

agents shot two brothers this morning. is targeting New Yorkers warrantlessly and without cause at the direction of the President who is trying to score cheap political points at the expense of our city and state to rile up his base.

UPDATE: After experts contacted about the flagrant lies by Nassau police and DA falsely linking a tragic death to discovery reform, the story has been updated to say that officials have retracted. “There was no direct correlation.”

Seriously owes New York a retraction and an apology ASAP. This is part of a misinformation campaign against basic fairness that they were duped into amplifying. See a joint statement on outright lies by law enforcement at

THREAD Since NY’s historic pretrial reforms were implemented on Jan 1st, 400+ clients we represent in the Bronx have been able to return to their families, jobs, education, and community while fighting their cases.

It’s not about Victims and never was. DAs regularly exclude victims from the resolution process. That’s one of the reasons is calling for to design. This is dangerous misinformation & fear mongering to justify violating ppls rights.

Officer shot my Client in the face then planted knives on him. Left him w/ a shattered jaw, feeding tube & trache for a year, bullet permanently in his spine. Judge felt officer showed remorse so no bail & no jail. There must be not special treatment for some.

Thanks to these historic reforms, more NYers have been able to remain with their families and community rather than being locked up simply bc they can’t afford their freedom. These are just a couple of their stories (all names have been changed to protect anonymity).

ICE has no place in our courts. Weaponizing this agency against immigrant communities of color not only denies them access to justice but also makes society less safe.

Truth is greater than fear: “They say rollback! We’re not having that!” Advocates, lawmakers, defenders, & directly impacted people rallied in NYC on Friday to denounce efforts by the Trump administration & NYPD to rollback NY’s bail reform—with Mayor de Blasio’s tacit approval.

Yesterday was & the first Muslim female judge elected in the US is right here in NYC. My Shero Judge Carolyn Dialo Walker! A bench that reflects the community it impacts is so important. She made history & paved the way for so many.

Those of us who work in the criminal legal system have a higher duty to tell the truth about our role in inequity & injustice -- to be forthright when we do not see our spaces as clearly as those caught up in it.

Fighting for has been my life’s work & I am proud to announce a historic win with nation wide implications! The tried to force Black firefighters to quit by weaponizing a medical condition it knew only they suffered, against them. Not on my watch.

There are plenty more. I’ve represented many people falsely searched, seized, arrested & prosecuted. The ’s #1 source of evidence against a person is the word of a police officer. If you’ve ever fought a traffic ticket then you know how that goes.

The did an interview with Elyse Mayer - one of the Jewish women hit by Tiffany Harris who wants to see Tiffany get mental health support NOT jail or bail - and yet failed to include her in this story. THREAD.

📢 District attorneys must listen & include victims in the resolution process! 📢 There’s an initial interview (if you’re lucky) then static silence until you find out from another source that it’s over. Our city can be safer if we center people not punishment.

Congrats to Rafael & for your dedication to the truth & Justice! The “Trial penalty” is a big risk factor that pressures & intimidates pple to plead because prosecutors threaten to go for the excessive top charge. That’s abuse of power not justice.

A non-violent thief who can post $3,000 bail is no more threatening than one who can't. The money is irrelevant; being poor doesn't make a defendant inherently more dangerous. But as practiced, NY’s legal system has long operated as if poverty equals danger
