But how many of us truly believe he will do anything constructive to help property owners? @GovAbbott has proved time & again he only cares about wealthy, big business & the GOP; it’s screw the home owner cause they cannot do anything about their outrageous property taxes.

The only thing abbot can really do is what he said. Property taxes are decided at the county level, not state. I agree they're outrageous, but the pressure must be put on your county as they are the ones ultimately who can change it

Property taxes are set locally to pay for the programs and infrastructure set by the state. State tells locals what they have to do. Locals set rates to pay for it. Agree? Disagree?

As I stated, the individual counties set their own rates. The state can not change the property tax rates for the counties. The counties must do it themselves.

Do you think the actions the state tells each county to preform, have a bearing on the property tax rate set by each county?

Maybe a little but not too much. Politicians are always looking to tax people into the grave. The taxes would not be lowered, they would just find something else "imperative" that would need our money

Don’t have property tax statement in front of me but can tell you that school district claims state takes 30% of funds provided by propert taxes for schools in other districts. To make up for that loss, they have to raise our taxes more. Simple logic.

That is true. Be glad your in a district that is only 30%. Some ISDs pay close to 60% to the state. But the state - through
@teainfo - sets those recapture rates, not the counties.2 odpowiedzi 0 podanych dalej 0 polubionych -

Be happy you’re not getting taxed at a higher rate - not a satisfactory answer from

Didn’t say be happy you’re not getting taxed higher. Said, some districts are higher as directed by TEA, not local elected school board.
