Again, these are preliminary numbers, and we don't have them from all of the state's most populous counties. We should have a more complete picture when counties upload their rosters tomorrow.

Prelim numbers suggest record-setting Day 1 DEM EV turnout in Denton, Hidalgo, Montgomery, Travis and Williamson Cos. and numbers generally up from '16 in the state's largest counties. REP Day 1 EV turnout is more mixed relative to '16, setting records in Denton & Hidalgo Cos.

We got our numbers from Travis Co. Clerk (https://countyclerk.traviscountytx.gov/images/pdfs/election_results/2020.03.03/Feb_18_2020_EV_Daily_Totals.pdf …) We believe Elfant's chart compares 2016 and 2020 primary election turnout with 2008 and 2012 general election turnout. Turnout is much higher for a general election than the primary.
