The Cavazos family holds 27 acres of property in Mission, TX, sitting a breath away from the Rio Grande. On November 5, 2018 a condemnation action was issued for the taking of the property for the border wall.
Of the 40+ heirs who each share a stake in the property, 36 were notified of the declaration, of which only 3 were consulted with in person. Less than 2 weeks after notice of a condemnation action, a motion for immediate possession was issued for a speedy taking of the land.
The government offered to pay the price of less than $2.50 per heir — before the family had even found legal representation to consider the initial compensation. The government clearly had no intention of respecting these property owners. #NoBorderWall
Family members who oppose the manner/speed of this taking include Reynaldo Anzaldua, a Vietnam War veteran who lost property during the round of takings caused by the 2006 Secure Fence Act, and Jose “Fred” Cavazos, a paraplegic who cares deeply about his property.pic.twitter.com/IwoM3HLk2i
We are dedicated to helping this family keep their land & the memories it holds. The government should not seize property without consulting all people involved in person, nor so quickly & for an unreasonable price- especially for a border wall that we don't need. #NoBorderWall
That's wrong,unjust. GOP in Austin need to get off of Trump's wagon, it's falling apart.

If the #UnitedStates government is going to seize property, they MUST PAY ABOVE MARKET VALUE. This will not be a #TrumpTakeover of people’s private property. Lawyer up Cavazos family and charge the government your legal fees. @ACLU
