    🚨It's been ONE YEAR since the U.S. began it's illegal and violent "Remain in Mexico" (MPP) policy. Here's Mari, an asylum-seeker forced to wait in Matamoros for months, describing the makeshift tent "courts" that violate the due process of all asylum-seekers.

    This is one of the most infuriating parts of MPP—when blatantly violates its own “guiding principles” and sends people to Mexico who never should be in MPP in the first place. There are no consequences for CBP officers who break the rules, so it keeps happening.

    Vulnerable populations are supposed to excluded from being in MPP , have continued to keep people in MPP who have serious medical conditions I met this woman yesterday & she needed help getting on a bus because she’s almost lost all of her eyesight

    One week ago, at a tour of the Laredo port court, staff denied ever sending people with disabilities into MPP. Here's a near-blind woman with a major medical condition who's been entered into MPP. Call and tell them they're violating their own policies: 956 983 5704.

    Atty Charlene D’Cruz is trying to get a 52 yr old Cuban woman removed from the “Remain in Mexico” program arguing she should be exempt because she’s alone in Matamoros and going blind due to a parasite that has eaten her right retina and is now eating away at the left one.

    This is violence at our doorstep. Border agents are seemingly allowed to violate the legal and human rights of asylum-seekers without any explanation.

    To clarify, CBP told her they would not be removing her from the “Remain in Mexico” program. The supervisor didn’t offer an explanation.

    This is a direct result of Trump policies that have degraded asylum. Every day, thousands of asylum-seekers like this woman are forced to wait in Mexico while their asylum proceeding continues in the U.S. This is a violent human rights violation.
