    I like to spend time doing things that make me feel good, like running or knitting and watching movies to simply recharge and make myself feel better. It is important to take care of ourselves so that we can take care of the planet!

    Activism is difficult and exhausting work. What do you do to recharge?

    It is the older generation that has inspired the youth activists of today! If it weren’t for the older generations we would have no concept of what it means to take climate action. We are simply following in their footsteps & still want their voices to be heard.

    Youth activism has surged in recent years and is getting a lot of media attention. What would you say to older generations who may not feel like they belong in the climate change activism movement?

    Which is an issue we are facing today, that plays a large role in the issue that is climate change. If students are familiar with her work, and what a Tragedy of the Commons is, I believe they will be well prepared to take climate action.

    The work of the political scientist Elinor Ostrom has become an important resource for myself, and I would recommend any educator look into Ostrom’s work. She offers 8 core design principles on how it is we can avoid a Tragedy of the Commons.

    What is one resource, such as an organization, video, or book, that you would recommend every educator take advantage of around supporting youth?

    My environmental club advisor inspired me to get involved, her passion and support for youth climate advocacy empowered me to feel as if could make a difference. I turned her passion into my passion & I hope others take my passion & turn it into their own.

    Who is someone that has inspired you to get involved in climate change activism? How do you in turn inspire other youth?

    I would also love to a climate based curriculum so that students actually know what climate change is, and what the solutions are. As well as teach students that the issue is intersectional and plays a role in so many other relevant issues today.

    I would love to see educators, acknowledge the efforts of the students who are working to take climate action, and make them feel seen and appreciated so that they are driven to continue to do the work that they are passionate about.

    What would you love to see teachers/schools doing to support and empower youth taking climate change action in their communities?

    And by allowing students to be in control of the projects that they want to do, students will be encouraged to continue to the fight against climate change. At least, that is what I have found to be true in my experience as a youth activist. (2/2)

    By allowing students to take the lead on climate discussions and projects, educators can help students grow to be passionate about activism. It is vital that students feel empowered and heard by their teachers. (1/2)

    What makes me passionate about climate change is the hope that we will make the change that we need to see for the future. Seeing youth around the world stand up up for what they believe in has inspired me, and has made me want to inspire others in the same way
