A handful, not the majority, like most other communities out there. Let's not misrepresent the magnitude of the few loud voices in the sea content (and normal) silent majority.
The weird attitude of the #MiSTerFPGA community where they demand sorg support their niches for free just because they want them is what's incredibly toxic about retro nerds. We need some perspective: we're just playing old video games, not saving lives.

Which niches?

Specifically Xband modems and 999-in-1 NES carts with custom mappers. I feel like the devs are welcome to do what pleases them, they owe me nothing even though I contribute on Patreon. I'm more than happy to support the project even if it isn't perfect.

Not always the issue, it doesn’t take much digging to find his rejections when people spend their time to add a feature, for him to call useless, single case or “not the mister way” and in the meantime add support for stuff he has and nobody cares about or even know it’s there

The cool thing is that the source is online. If anybody who is interested in Xband or 999-in-1 NES carts wants to, they can add that support. It's already pretty well documented in a thousand other places.

It's hard to temper flames when there are so many social outlets connected for this. With MiST it was mostly github and atari forum and sometimes FB. Now there are like 20 different places to go to try and help people or for them to seek. It's a lot to monitor.
