I could scarcely think lower of people whose first instinct is to proclaim into the void that they're offering "thoughts and prayers" at this point. The phrase has been so corrupted by those that want this harm to keep happening

While most of us recognize the uselessness of "prayers" in these situations, the ironic way to make emptily vague "thoughts" truly meaningless is to continually offer them as a reflexive verbal token accompanied by actions that contradict them.
