No, it means a little, relatively harmless poke at a goalie’s glove does not merit a haymaker to the head.

Calgary media still trying to justify lucic -
It's called "roughing" because there's nothing in the books on "Sucker Punching Douchenozzlery".

Sucker punching after the whistle isn't roughing. Almost every single game someone takes a jab at a goal tender. That's precedent for sucker punching now?
-
So we agree that an unnecessary jab was taken at a goaltender. I guess where we disagree is whether the player has a right to do it. I didn’t think it was a sucker punch because the kid probably should have realized retaliatory action would likely follow. I guess I was wrong

The decision doesn't imply that Sherwood did nothing wrong. It says that what Sherwood did wasn't suspendible, and that what Lucic did was. And it was. He sucker-punched him in the face.
-
Sherwood boarded Kylington and received no penalty. He then ran around like a goon trying to spear Rittch after the whistle. Lucic defended his goaltender and teammates because the officials ignored their duties. League suspended Lucic as a sign poor officiating is acceptable.

Rittich has been getting a lot of slashes and extra whacks lately. Shortly after the lucic penalty a Columbus player crosschecked Kylington from behind right on top of rittich. Bennett took only penalty when he retaliated. If refs don’t protect him. Players will. I applaud lucic
