Is Kovalchuck eligible to be chosen in the expansion draft?

Why would you expose him, he is obviously not coming back to play in vegas. Wants to be traded to a contender.

He won multiple Gagarin Cups, and as a Devils fan I want him back sooo bad

He did a pretty decent job bringing us within 2 wins of a Cup in 2012, and I'm willing to try again

So does his old contract with NJ play into this at all?
-
No. The contract was voided upon his retirement.

The question is, if he comes back to the NHL, will he request/require an Olympics clause so he can play with Team Russia?

Would these rules also apply to Voynov? There has been talk of a return, maybe not to LAK but to NHL. What's his status?

Why isn't the contract he signed (that had outstanding term) reinstated when he unretires? Seems like a way to get out of a bad contract.
-
Wasn't exactly a bad contact, he left a lot of $ on the table. He also wasn't eligible to return to the NHL until this coming season.
