I guess I meant the threat of actual retirement is more real in those games than in ours, but I agree the toxicity is still there.
yeah =/ the worse end is that even if you have an amazing year overall, you're only as good as your last weekend to 99% of the community.

League is a different animal. An entire years worth of working is for two days of group play at worlds. There is no equivalent for Smash.
