& if whining contributed to the drop I'd be furious "We don't need Evo" is disgusting. All because 2017 didn't literally save the community?

There are more to things in life than bo3 vs bo5. Have you considered the visibility the largest fighting game tourney in the world brings?

2 games had TV deals. 5 more had devs chip in a pot bonus (SFV had both). MvC3 had the donation drive. For all I know, Melee had nothing.

Unless Nintendo struck some kind of deal where Melee was allowed to stay at Evo, Melee was there for one reason and one reason only: Us.

So if you guys want to let the last truly grassroots "esport" fade away, sure, we dont need Evo. But that will be the beginning of the end.
