can always buffer either direction during landing or during shieldstun, that's a non issue

no, it's irrelevant because you only tilt during blockstun really. How easy the input is is worth it IMO

other than it "easier", but it requires more reads, reaction speed, setup + specific controller. that tradeoff is awful.

I don't think the reaction bit is that important it's easier than shield SDI for instance.

if you see a fox jump at you and youre shielding, you now need to guess and react properly in order to not get a roll

in that instance you're completely right your method is superior. I usually try to buffer left right before shield

if you have stick in neutral position and are shielding and they just wait you out, then yeah it's bad
