Being able to play a top pro in pools is a privilege that "not-good" players deserve. In poker, it's a honor to be put at a table with pros.

Fighting Games are really rough on the mental stamina, for sure. But it's part of the process, it's why some players ARE pros.
You could argue that we should have month long tournaments for tennis players then too! Events have limits and sacrifices are made

I think we both agree that the problem in the end is logistics related - there just isnt enough time as tournaments get bigger.
