When was the last time a top 10 player lost in early pools? Top players are far more consistent than many other games that use invites.

Sure they're important, but the impact isn't really THAT large. At least for most fighting games
Obviously important enough to get offers to fly me and several others to events 5 times a month.

I do think smash is far more extreme than other fgs. Even then, Daigo will bring entrants.
