Fucking crazy seeing people you thought you knew come out with shit like this. Not sure what to say. Saddest thing is knowing that it's not something unique, this happens far more often than it should and in the majority of cases people do not speak up. Fucking hell.
We need to do a better job to protect those in danger of being abused in our community. Period. I can only hope more people feel like they will be heard if they speak up now but it shouldn't take a movement for something like this to be brought to light. We gotta do something.
E-sports need to regulate and apply a sexual harassment course. Especially when plenty of gamers have shown us they have very limited interactions dating and being social. I’m not defending nor advocating for sexual harassment/assault either but there should be a class on it
@TSM be a leader in the esports scene and organize a workshop with a sexual violence resource center for all of your staff and pros to be trained in awareness of red flags and trauma support. and call on other esports orgs to do the same.
The fun thing about the smash community is that abuse and predatorshit are normalized to a degree that ppl dont realise how bad it is. Also not fun at all.
Unfortunately that will naturally happen, when society normalize and excuse this behavior when it occurs with public figures, even with politicians.
