I think the funniest thing about the talent vs hard work debate is how little people have read and looked into the subject, yet they're 100% certain one way. Biggest misconception imo is that the only thing people think is "talent" is learning things quickly in the beginning.

Even the author himself has backpeddled on the subject iirc. The rest of the book is more or less just intresting anecdotes about celebrities and then saying the rest outside of 10000hrs is down to luck, which isn't a very nuanced or accurate way to look at it.

I'd recommend "top dog, the science of winning and losing" for a book more thorough and is based on actual scientific research if you want more information on a subject!

It’s 10000 hours of deliberate practice with the intent to improve. Someone going through the motions for 20000 hours isn’t doing that. It’s a good rule of thumb.
