I think talent can only really give you a head start. It might help you in an environment where no one puts in much work. After that, it’s all about how much effort you put in and most importantly, how efficient you are at learning and improving, regardless of your methods.
thats a very shallow look at talent - tons of talents only show themselves late (being clutch, taking media pressure for example) Talent is very complex subject, but I would say it matters more for top level than low level, its just easier to notice someone who learns fast.
