Watching Zain's Roy confirmed a lot of my assumptions about the game: - Melee's basic movement is hard but also shows off someone's skill in an insane way - this makes characters with good movement better than slow chars: if you have good movement you only need a few good tools

This is IMO what makes Melee such a great game. When people say Melee sucks because it is poorly balanced then I try to tell them that the movement options every character has in this game allow you to outplay people in tons of unique ways. it's hard, but doable and REALLY fun.

I think a major key is that by nature everyones movement and grabs are (generally) broken, and that also CC and Shield are incredibly strong and available to everyone - and then as a rule your safest attacks are aerials, which partly restricts your access to movement/shield/cc.
