I've been using a 60hz monitor the past like 5 years of my streaming/gaming. I just switched to 144 days ago or so. What is the difference exactly? Why's it so important for smash? Just asking cuz curious.
ur twitter replies suck so hard 144hz matters a lot for emulators (dolphin), not at all for things ran through switch/wii etc

yeah honestly i noticed a huge difference in the smoothness and movement once i switched my monitor settings from 60hz to 144hz (Didn't even know you were supposed to turn that on thought the monitor was just running 144hz out the box)

tbf 144hz monitors usually come with better response times, which benefits both console and computer gaming, but yeah the 144hz itself can only be used by PCs for the most part

Please correct me if I am wrong, but don't 144hz monitors offer about half a frame of reduction even with things that don't support 144hz due to the way it outputs frames? I feel like I read that somewhere but can't remember where or the reasoning

It does somewhat matter because monitors have varying input delay, but that has less to do necessary do with 144hz then it has to do with the inherent input delay on the monitor, most 60hz monitors have 10-25ms of input delay, 144hz 6-15, 240hz at 2-10ms.
