Basically, the movies are an alternate pathway to the series. A few different events take place in certain places leading to some different outcomes; the last movie is an alternate ending to the series if you could see it that way.

The recap movies aren’t that different the original series besides one key story point that imo kinda takes away a huge character moment for Lelouch and a few new scenes.

Also the recap movies and latest movie are apparently a seperate universe from the original series according to the directors. They did this to not take away from the original ending while also being able to milk the series of money a little bit more lmao
