Main point to me is that we shouldn't try to balance the game, but to make it more enjoyable and interesting. Just like ledge grab limit prevents a certain type of gameplay, I think the least interesting matches are the one where one has a massive advantage because of a stage.
Personally I was actually against having weaker dsr and more bans like in Ult, but after playing it I realized that it ultimately creates more interactions between each player (choosing what to ban is a skill) and I ended up liking it far more than melees ban system
George Mikan AKA Mr Basketball, was revolutionary, and detrimental, to the sport as a whole due to his ability to guard the basket without effort. His dominance inspired the NBA’s goaltending rule, but they also implemented the Shot Clock to force the other team to deal with him.
But even tho they changed the rules to nerf him, he was a big proponent of the 3 point line to buff other player, even though he would never make good use of it. This was because he was in favor of a ruleset which would make the game more exciting.
I agree that knowing what to ban is a skill. But Ult doesnt suffer from a smaller roster like melee does. More rules that gimp characters from playing to their advantages has a risk of cutting diversity even more than it already does. We dont need more reasons to play spacies
