Can you explain deeper what you mean by "bad framedata and almost no combos and bad recovery". Because I don't 100% agree with you here so I'd like to understand what you mean by it.

byleth doesnt have a single safe move on shield in a game where shield is the main neutral tool to play around byleth has like 2 comboswith good DI, dthrow fair at some % against some chars, and fair dash attack. Dtilt uair and nair dash attack can work but DI kills it often

Her Fair is -6 / -7 meaning she can spot dodge grab OOS even if it's spaced terribly horizontally. Her nair is -9. Both moves shift her hurtbox so aerials oos whiff. Joker Bair whiffs on Nair for example. Nair -> dtilt can make grabs whiff even if she doesn't space well.

fair is only -6 if its tipper im pretty sure, and even then its likely to become -7/8 if its staled once, which it will since its her by far most used move. nair dtilt come out in time joker bair whiffs on like everything, not exactly a surprise.

and because its so unsafe up close, it makes it far easier to dodge and parry into punish as well. obviously this doesnt happen online but yeah.

There are muitiple ranges where her fair is safe even when staled. you can literally short hop at someone 1/4th the stage away and do nothing and your opponent is forced to shield. I feel like you're underestimating the strength of this tool.

the only range is far away lol, not multiple. and far away they have nothing to catch dash away, jump away or holding shield. and because of the mobility they cant space it Even if it is safe, what are they gonna do after to punish or pressure? nothing they have is fast enough.

there are multiple ranges. If you're outside of grab range (Which isn't that hard) and you aren't playing against ZSS, G&W, etc: you're +5 to +1 on shield release so they're forced into another oos option in many case. Because of hurtbox manipulation most aerials cannot punish

being outside grab range would be much easier if their movement wasnt bottom tier, and again it makes it very very easy to parry when you always have to jump fully backwards for it not to be shield grabbable. and their hurtbox does not shift down that much lol.

because of the range of her fair there is a HUGE spot from hilt to tip where it is out of grab range. This what makes it still work even with bad movement speed.

yes that range is still big, but a bit more range with drastically worse movement speed is the same as decent range and great mobility. see puff in melee or literally any slow char in any game ever still being trash.

I'm not denying that the fair and bair are good, but they are NOT safe on shield unless far range, and at far range even if you do shield it they have no frame data to pressure you. Compare that to the actual good swordies and even mediocre swordies in this game...
