First tekken matches today, honestly didn't have a lot of fun and a lot of things aren't satisfying for me to do, but its still early. Going to give the game a few more days to see if I like it more then, currently the legacy tekken stuff and 3d stuff + meh online is making me
Game might just not be for me but I might just also not have been in the mood/haven't learned enough. It's just has a massive learning curve and if I don't like the core gameplay it'll be hard to justify. Still, keeping an open mind and gonna do some ranked tmrw!
Tekken is a mountain to climb, you’ll get there big leff. Main thing i noticed is you finish your strings a lot and they’re usually very unsafe(launch punishable). Also recognizing where you can get float combos(low parrys) but everyone drops those.
anyways sorry for the wall of text, you weren’t asking for advice anyways, just don’t wanna see you lose hope. Tekken is a sick game, it would be awesome if you stuck with it.

The online element is probably playing a lot larger of a part, is there anyone offline you can learn with?
Tekken has an extreme learning curve.
"It's not about the character" I understand that, however, I recommend taking a look at the character roster again (and their presets, most new designs for Tekken 7 were whack) and see if another character speaks to you. Whatever character you pick, it's not going to be easy.
Also, go through the entire move list for characters you want to play at least once. Even if not all strings are true or moves are unsafe, it's better to know all of your options, instead of just 1, 1, 2
I think I enjoyed DOA over Tekken as it feels more easy to play
