I don't personally care about my rank, people know how good I am and I've got a big presence already, but for the up and coming players from smaller regions it REALLY matters to be on the "GLOBAL" rankings.

Real talk: The PGR is an absolutely horseshit system Dreamhack didn't count because we had 2 people short when its Swedens biggest tournament with a €5000 pot. Random US local count tho because it has more pot fodders that main Isabelle and only come there for the artist alley.

Miminum entrant count is 200 in the contiguous US and 160 everywhere else worldwide. Dreamhack had 158 entrants.

Meh, if it didn’t have enough entrants it didn’t have enough entrants, events outside of the US already need less entrants, regardless of what the number is at there’s always bound to be an event that barely doesn’t make it and pot bonuses shouldn’t affect rankings at all

So if two 12 year olds signed up with their joycons and got double 3 stocked out of the tournament it would’ve had enough prestige to be counted? That’s the argument?

Got to agree. The scale of skill level totally drowns when only the attendee number is taken into account.

Worth noting that PGRv2 also includes ranked players as a factor, but that still doesn't help underrepresented regions like EU to get their majors to count (which contributes to the problem for the next season).
