curious, why do you think other companies put millions towards doing it? for fun?
i definitely dont think nintendo owes us anything but if you dont think they are leaving money on the table for both them and us then you are not really up to date tbh

i absolutely agree it's money left on the table, but it's Nintendo lol they've been known to make decisions that seem weird and backwards from the outside, it's usually in defense of their brand

Other games do it because it contributes to game sales and longevity. Nintendo doesn't need the competitive scene for smash to be successful and won't need competitive players ever.
