I mean the same can be said of most sequels though, no? SF4 -> SFV, Tekken 6 -> 7, etc carry over a lot even if the mechanics aren't identical. But I do agree with you. DBFZ season 1 was an even playing field and that made it so hype.
Nah def not for sfv, with tekken yes but neither of those games sold 14 million in 3 months

Like Ultimates biggest strength (and biggest weakness tbh) is that it has 78 characters from every video game franchise imaginable. Its the greatest crossover event in gaming... And the scene has almost no crossover at all

True, and it'll probably get even more isolated over time. Is there anything that can stop/reverse that?
