Right, but that would mean either 1) having Melee & Ult top 8s at the same time 2) starting Sunday at 10/11 AM by doing top 64/32 matches (and streaming very little of it until the top 8s) I prefer just spreading things across 3 days personally but I get how they landed here

starting at 11 is fine since theyre starting at noon now anyway, and the pools start at 10am on sat anyway the amount of streamed matches doesnt change, they run the same time now as well..

Starting at 11 means: Melee T32->Melee T8 / Ult T32-> Ult T8 Keep in mind that doesn't make Sat much less grueling. You'd still have to go from pools to top 32 for both games in a day Top players of both games (all 4 of you) have it rough with 2 day pretty much no matter what

what do you mean? doing 800 - t48 is far less grueling than 800 - t8 Doing 10am to 7-8pm into 11am into 5pm is far less grueling

You'd do 32. 32->8 is takes at least 3 hours & if you want 8 hrs for the T8s, that's alrdy 11 hr runtime You'd likely still end Sat at like 10. No way you end at 8 PM. 64->32->8 is only a small time saver compared to 64->12 It'd need to be 3 day for you to have a good time man

Because that's how long they take? lol If you don't believe me just look at SmashCon's VOD: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/465697668 … The 7 hr mark VOD is when Melee top 8 started. Ultimate top 8 ends around the 15 hr mark. That's 8 hours. If you have ads or any sort of fluff it's more

alright just thought the average was lower. Either way, I seriously don't agree with you that its impossible to run a good schedule for both games if you only enter one game (even only entering melee at shine gets a shitty schedule) I'm not sure how combined brackets work but

if you could make round 2 pools play one more match (say end at top 48) then that would also make a huge difference, removing an entire block

There are some optimizations But the point is that they are half measures. No matter what, you only have like 15 hrs (Sat+early Sun) to get thru 2 huge brackets. The core problem is the same The actual solution is to spread things across 3 days for an event this size

I agree, but even if the optimizations look small, when the schedule is this tight they make a HUGE difference having 30 mins to eat or 0 minutes 8 vs 6 hours of sleep 0 hours warmup vs 1 hour

I completely agree that the actual play is to at least do some pools on friday (maybe have sat pools for some that cant make fri) but running the bracket better + running less of top 64 on stream if you desperately want to have a 2 day only tournament would make a huge difference

The big brain play is to just split pools into 2 (Fri+Sat) and let unranked people pay extra for a Saturday pool Or something like that What I'm more curious about is how much of a problem this even is? Like, what % of attendees does this even preclude from going?
