If your region bans Hero in Smash when there aren't enough results yet to decide whether he's worth banning, all you're doing is lowering the level of players in that region by denying matchup experience, lol

and again, with this logic we have absolutely no data that final smash meters shouldnt be legal, so how dare we ban them? or Yggrassil/mementos hazards on. Or items, etc. Why don't we wait for the supreme data for these things?

In this case, because we already know what Smash players want out of a Smash game: they do not want *stage* randomness, and they do not want the excessive power granted by Final Smash attacks given how overbearingly, at-a-glance good they are.

It's not really a question of whether randomness is inherently uncompetitive or not, it's more about how much is too much. The people who are pro and anti-ban draw the line at two different places, it seems to me.
