But yeah, I'd be lying if I said that theres a smash game thats a better competitive game than melee. It just executes the formula far better overall despite having some flaws still. There's a reason all the smash clones base of melee rather than brawl/smash 4.

That doesn't mean I want ultimate to be a 1:1 copy of Melee. I've played many fighting games and all of them have good parts and bad parts. The thing that pisses me off is that many ultimate players act like you are insulting them personally for wanting good netcode

What’s wrong with DI and edgeguarding?

DI got overhauled to be easier to exexute but significant weaker. You can DI Falcos shine in melee damn near completely diagonal or straight up. Nothing comes remotely close to that. As for edgeguarding, too many characters get free ledge grabs from dipping low. Trumping is ass

I’m curious as to what way you believe DI and edgeduarding don’t “work properly.” Not trying to be toxic or anything I just genuinely don’t see an issue with how it is now.

For edgeguarding I think he’s referrring to how recovery is pretty easy in this game + edgeguarding isn’t focused on as much as much as it should be
