when I play M2K the matchup doesn't feel that bad. He's not harder than the average top 6 player compared to spud / stango being much harder than the average players of their ranks. at least for me

M2k with good sdi+slightly better defensive habits would be way harder than zain is ATM
imo the matchup has been obviously terrible for a long time. Marths that cant even CG and dont try to sdi, dont even bother learning it (for the most common char in the game) and still upset top foxes.

So i realized tbh a big reason i didn't cg is cuz a big portion of my life i had to use good vanilla dashback controllers which means worse pivots (also p1 has 1 less frame to do it in addition to that). Those things (controller specifics and ports) weren't known a few years ago.

The thing isn't that Marth's can't cg, it's that they don't have to. Most Marths can get an ez big punish off of a techchase without having to worry about dropping anything. In a lot of situations going for a tech chase is arguably just better than the standard cg -> whatever.

My friend and I were doing secondaries, went to fd, and he said “at least you can’t chaingrab”. Told him it didn’t matter and I was going to cheese him off a tech chase and immediately killed him off a grab. Marth is dumb lol.
