There's definitely a big victim complex within some gaming communities. If you don't play every single game for infinity, then you can't critique it because you haven't done enough. If you do play it a ton, and then find flaws that make you dislike it, you're BETRAYING YOUR FANS!
The brawl/smash4/ult community has a big case of this - if melee players don't try the game, then we are being melee elitists who only want melee. If we do try it and spend thousands of hours on it, and grind harder than the "smash 4 pros", well then you just used it for MONEY

Ive got a pretty good answer to this that I use for films: despite being bad, a movie can inform and illuminate what it is that makes film special as an artistic medium. The reality is I just like the think and talk about these things.
I don’t understand why people feel the need to baby game companies. In the end it’s not going to be a single personality’s opinion that kills a game. If the game is good enough the community will still play. Voicing opinions is the only way to improve games.
I like that you do this honestly. Too many people are quick to shut down anything that opposes their thoughts and label stuff like that as damaging to the community. It really isn't, actually. What's damaging is people following the thoughts of others and not being called on it.
