i could get crucified for this but for me at the end of smash 4 the movement was my favorite part of it, i grinded techskill every day for an hour+ as routine, pivots/stepdash/foxtrot routines forever, it was beautiful to see applied and the other top players loved it too
not saying top level players didn't appreciate it, especially later when the rest became more optimized. Just saying thats why they started playing them. (also the execution was relatively unimportant in the grand scheme)
yeah i can agree with that somewhat, in the endgame though i think execution became way more and more important though to me at least. i had lots of optimized combos using pivots and stepdashing that aren't just things you could do out of nowhere, i had to practice them daily
I just find it funny that Brawl is so much more technical than Smash 4 and Ultimate with the DACUS, strong SDI, bone walking, all the weird Lucas tech...hell Brawl even had ledge hogging, and it had the mechanic where you could hit shielded opponents off of platforms and ledges.
