To be clear, I don't think ultimate players dont play at all, or that there arent a lot of hungry new players. It's just a VERY clear difference in how much people play coming from someone thats played many different fgs. Comparing summits and comparing how the -
warmup stations by stream at pound/genesis are not ever busy for ult but packed for melee (when ult doubled attendance) - its a very clear difference for me at least. Not that theres anything objectively wrong about it, but I hope the current top players will grind more.
Hopefully hungry up n comers (such as yourself? :)) will keep taking names and force them to. I think a lot of it is leftover mentality from 4 so i hope it'll change soon.
