There was only 40ish setups out of 850 entrants and I actually sat by empty setups several times without people coming up asking to play personally. There weren't many with a big winner stays rotations from what I saw either and I saw most top players sit by the stage :o
I also asked everytime if anyone wanted to play after venue closed at 10PM and I was only able to get people once. When i asked if anyone wanted to play before prime I got no top players responding for ultimate and tons for melee. I'm obv more known for melee but still.

At genesis I also could not get anyone for ultimate, biggest major yet. Ended up playing ult with mango and snowy (melee players) both nights. I had a setup w biggest twitter following in the scene for reference lol
But dont you think its hard for people to just approach you if they dont know you/arent percieved top/high level players? I get what you are saying, but i think its more of a people want to grind with people that they are more familiar with
