Decreasing the stock count could make Jigglypuff busted. Imagine successful Rests ending a game 1/2 of the time instead of 1/4.https://twitter.com/OXY_Crimson/status/1113180089535959040 …

Eh its the same proportion of stocks overall if you increase the set length However more of the total stocks are safe from retribution kills so thats a buff The main thing that gets buffed is suicide kills. This is why 1 stock is pretty much a no-go imo

Right, can't get a retribution kill if the next game starts. You know how Puffs sometimes survive to high percent on their last stock and squeak out a kill, then get a quick knockdown into rest to win? Now that can happen way more often.

I think it goes both ways. Less stocks inherently increases variance. The risk/reward for hitting a Rest becomes higher with less stocks. The value of hitting it increases (and it has increased viability as a game-ender), but missing it becomes relatively more costly.

theres not many rests that you actually risk missing unless you fuck up though - its almost always confirmable if its going to miss or hit
