I still think Chrom is better than Roy. His high recovery is underrated and very hard to deal with unless you have a counter ( parry jab doesnt work for most chars ) Roy's probably better vs characters with counter, but other then that I dont see which MU's Roy does better in

The best way to edgeguard chrom for non counters is just to hit the top of it by falling on it with an aerial, very reliable once you get the hang of it. I honestly think you should try out roy, best way to really feel the difference.

The biggest thing outside of roy being an excellent edgeguarder and basically as good ledge trapper (because of side b killing at 70) is that roy does a solid 2-3% extra on every strong hit while also killing 20% earlier, along with more reliable combos and easier confirms -

Roy has a ton more hit lag and a little bit more hitstun on his moves, making it much easier to confirm jabs, nairs, fairs, uairs, bairs and dtilts into full combos. Added with the fact that he can keep fair/nair planing them offstage with no risk its a huge deal in openings/kill

Side B and utilt killing way better and up B being an amazing reversal tool (frame 4+ armor hits frame 9 that deals 20% with massive range) and it also stage spiking like crazy (and its VERY unreliable to tech because theres a basically random amount of hits)

The thing is, in order to punish Chroms high recovery your opponent needs to position himself first to punish him at the peak of his up b. The Chrom player can then just react to that and airdodge to the edge instead

I actually started out as a Roy main in this game and was convinced he was better than Chrom. Both of them are among my most played characters

I think its close between them with Roy being better at recovering, combos early on, killing early and edgeguarding. But Chrom having better neutral, advantage stage, ledge trapping, oos punish game and having more reliable kill moves/setups once your opponent reaches a certain %

Roy's sourspot confirms are good, but from my experience its something you need to assume is gonna connect and can't react to if you dont tunnel vision on it. His side b is amazing, but not always easy to connect and get the right hitbox at higher percents

Not sure how u can argue that roy has worse advantage state or oos punish when he has better combos edgeguarding and damage for adv and up b and jump side b for oos

Chroms more reliable at killing for 130+ but roy is far better at killing from 0-130 imo. I think once people learn roys sourspot and how to play with and around them it will be far better overall imo

The reason I think Chrom has better adv state is cuz Roys sourspot doesn't launch ur opponent while juggling. Chroms superior ledge trapping makes up for the fact that Roy has better edgeguarding. Also correct me if im wrong but isn't Chrom ub b oos faster than Roys oos options?
