dude. if you play a computer in smash mode, it remembers the computers character but the player still has to repick theirs. and even though we can’t walk through our opponent we can walk right through the sandbag in training mode. i love nintendo but jesus fuck
i noticed this too on my flight literally felt like a gut punch they just actually think we want to have to repick our characters

It is probably designed for casual players who choose a different character every time.

But even when you look at it from that perspective it's worse. It takes longer for you to pick a new character when the cursor starts off from the very bottom of the screen every time compared to already being on top of the previous used character because the cursor is so slow
