Stage rulesets should be approached from "why should this stage be legal, what does it add and is it worth the cost" rather than "why shouldn't X stage be legal? I need you to objectively prove that the stage shouldn't be legal".

That's funny because I happen to believe the exact opposite. Cull only what can be proven broken, otherwise you're essentially self-balancing.
and it makes people waste their bans so their opponent can get a higher chance of a favorable stage
eg. Bayo at Glitch basically getting BF for free cause Wario Ware HAS to be banned against her
I’d rather have a variety of stages rather than 3-4 Jank should obv be banned but we should be more conservative with the ban hammer otherwise we will be just FD Fox only

What's wrong with that
It's the whole innocent until proven guilty mindset, clearly there are some stages that could be considered legal but with too big of a stage list it makes choosing a stage more of an unnecessary hassle, especially when top players know what stages are best to play on
