i literally never said that, in fact I said that it should prob be implemented. That is FAR from all of melees ledge mechanics however, and I think the good easily outweighs the bad.

I just read the main tweet at hand and while I can't really give much of a fair perspective on ledge hogging etc, regrab invulnerability just seems objectively bad

Where did the tweet even say that? Also ledge regrab invul isnt nearly as abuseable in 99% of situations as people think tbh, because of the risk of getting edgeguarded if you do get hit in melee.

No disrespect intended, im genuinely curious. Can you explain to me please how a ledgedash that grants ~15 frames of actionable intangiblility does not give stage control or at least reset neutral? What exactly is the counterplay to that?

it might be hard to visualize, but regular fighting games have the same thing with invincible reversals. Biggest thing is that you know when and where they are going to be where the invincibility ends, so you can put up a move that will hit exactly as invincibility ends.

And even if there is counterplay, its hard and if you do get hit youre off stage in melee, so the risk reward is still often terrible. regrabbing edge to mixup timing is aldo extremely risky for most chars as well, get hit out of your dj and you probably die. Also its ~9 frames-

For humans using fox, and theres a big sd/messup risk even then. other chars have better risk reward but get less ground/less invincibility. The edge is not a adv pos at any level of melee outside of puff and specific %

Yeah the invincibility in Melee sounds busted AF, but when you look at matches, you realize it isn’t busted and is actually just a part of the gameplay.
