I personally liked the ledge mechanics in smash 4 more yes, did you forget about MK planking for 8 minutes in Brawl? And you're right, removing tools from top tiers was a great way to balance the game, or are you implying Brawl had better balance :^)? Ok subspace was godlike

brawl is not the only smash game. 64 and melee have good ledge mechanics and the way 4 did it is way worse than those. its subjective but I dont think removing options is the way to create a good and deep competitive game. there was far more diversity in gameplay in brawls top.

Ledge trumping is far preferable to stalling and planking invuln bullshit, and it adds a lot of depth to ledge trapping. S4 recoveries were broken because of how far they went + magnet hands, not because of trumping not gonna defend rage though lmao

How so ? In melee you have to cover a lot of options when it comes to edgeguarding whereas in smash 4 there is never a reason for your opponnent to not go for ledge which makes edguarding super one dimensional I honestly how ledge trumping is the superior mechanic

Don't have a horse in this race but I think Smash 4 ledges were the worst ledges ever. Backair was literally designed for edgeguarding and that all goes out the window when people get back every time. Landing on stage is always the worst option in Smash 4, no substantial mixups

and the game babies you to sweetspot ledge from a mile away. I don't think ledge trumping is that bad by itself, couldve been cool if the other factors like ledge snapping and magnet hands weren't so insane. Planking in Brawl was caused by MK being insane, not a specific mechanic
