I think what you're seeing is the vocal minority. Pretty much all smash 4 players respect melee, and like watching it. You're putting everyone into a box, and that doesnt look good on you or smash 4 players.

I agree with you, I love melee too. I just want more than ten playable characters with the gameplay of Melee. I like heavy characters and there's none playable in melee. I just want to play Bowser in an aggressive environment and Smash 4 wasn't that either.

I think a vast majority of smash 4 players enjoy and respect melee, its movement, and its combos. But, they also like playing new games.

Pretty much. No matter how great Melee is (it’s quite great), it’s never going to have a massive player base because of the constraints of old gaming hardware, CRTs, etc... but also because most people just want to play newer games on newer hardware.
