As much as you have a right to explore before making an opinion, there are many responses (rightfully) that come from people who have very strong (but also reasonable) opinions about Jordan. This is what a forum like twitter brings. You can tweet and people can make strong resp.

The only reason I purchased the book was cause I was curious about the psychologal content of it and to get a better understanding of what kind of person he is I haven't even stated my opinion on him other than saying he was intelligent and interesting ( which I still stand by )

Now I totally get it when people respond strongly because they think his psych knowledge is trash and that I should have ordered another psych book instead. That's reasonable But to shit on me for just attempting to do my research on this controversial figure is beyond me

I think its because people interpreted your excitement for the book as an endorsement for Jordan (which may or may not be true). It’s important to understand the optics of your tweets to your audience - a blunder that I make from time to time

You also said you had already done your research by watching videos. Hard not to take that as you approve of Jordan.

Leffen, I literally said ''Bought this book because of my interest in psychology and cause I've heard good things about it. I've seen numerous videos/lectures and he seems like a very interesting and intelligent person that I could learn a thing or two from''

Yes I've seen a good amount of videos of his lectures, but that doesn't mean I've done my full research or that I've approved of him. The only conclusion I've come to so far is that I'm interested in his pshyc work and that he's a smart person

If I personally were to pick up a highly controversial book and tweet how much you like the author and look forward to reading the book, id do basic research on what his critics say before. You gotta realize your platform and the context here.

Never tweeted about how much I like the author??? I only stated that I was excited for a phsyc book that I heard good things about which was made by a man that I find interesting and intelligent But yes ur right, should have looked up critics of the book beforehand

you said he was really intelligent and could teach you a thing or two. Hard not to take that as you liking what you know of the author now. Theres also the whole thing about giving people a platform etc but eh thats for another time.

I think you get it by now anyway, just wanted to chime in with someone who has experience with speaking too soon on controversial things :)

Lmaoooo I know your tweets are coming from a place of concern/care so I appreciate it. I did genuinely think I could learn something from him since he's a psychologist and you know...I'm not lol but I I can see def how my phrasing can be interpreted as me being a fan of his work
