this is not even remotely true. Mc discovers his reason to live in mech with 02. Convinces 02 in mech several times. All side chars argue plenty in mechs during fights. Ichigo/mc drama starts and happens more than once in mech. Do you not remember this show?

I never said there werent drama outside. See how all of those you mentioned arent actually the 3 most integral storylines to the plot yet you claim only 1% of it happens inside. I was also specifically speaking about earlier in the show since thats the part you defended.

that's cause they aren't exclusive. okay lets talk about main character storylines MC/02, dont even pilot together in the beginning. MC internally conflicted considering 02 past, MC struggles with 02's relationship with everyone besides him

they piloted in the first ep and if was extremely clear they would soon after. Point im making is that butt controls etc is highly relevant to the plot and not as easily dismissable such as a hot spring ep or panty gag

it's just to drive a point about the pilot relationship right? nothing more than that. it's no better than the eva episode where shinji and asuka have to work together. they just went with a spicier visual

This is exactly the point. Its blatantly ripping something that is explored in 1 episode of eva, bases the show on it, adds fanservice, and then still doesnt add anything interesting eva or any other copilot mecha didnt already do.

okay now we're shifting goal posts here. if we're talking about originality, 99% of shows aren't ORIGINAL. everyone takes elements of something else, that's how genres get defined

how much originality is worth is subjective, but that was not my point. Its that because its obv not original, we can easily compare it to others and thats when you see how badly it executes its story.
