tons of char drama points were scattered and only relevant when the plot needed it, such as the fat boi plotline and gay dude in love with mc plotline. Also ichigo goes "id rather die then let u go back to abusive relationship" and then ONE EP LATER is 100% supportive

Tbh I think you need to watch better coming of age animes if you think this one did it well. The entire main plot was not good and it was padded by terrible pointless fights backed with the worst world building

So again, not gonna disagree with macro story elements like world building and the fight scenes. But the dialogue scenes between a lot of the characters were INCREDIBLY well written. I’d have to go back but I remember scenes between 02/Ichigo, kokoro/mitsuru and even zorome with

The old lady in the city as hallmarks of good cinematic writing. I’m not trying to defend the series as a whole but to dismiss the entire series writing is also super wrong imo. If I’m trying to suggest a coming of age stories, I’d recommend a bunch of different anime over ditf

again, the actual important dialogue with mc/02 and ichigo sound fine in the moment and are downright bad if you remember the episode before because the things they say arent consistent with their character. i personally found the old lady convo incredibly blunt and melodramatic-

To the point where it was so in your face yet tried to act as if it was deep. "i havent heard my husbands voice in years" "hes happy with just dreaming" which is just ripping other scifi plotlines and presenting them with 0 nuance and never expanding on them.

"uh no ur infected" "uh do u think we are ever gonna become adults" sooooooooooo clumsily delivered and it was constantly repeated on.

It has good scene to scene directing /dialogue for what it is, like the way a marvel movie does, but it doesnt move the narrative properly and isnt focused on enough to be the point of/carry the show ala pulp fiction

anyway if your only argument is "i like how the dialogue is" instead of actually arguing against anything then i think we can only agree to disagree

well my main point is that there's a difference between calling the plot writing bad and scene writing bad. i have major problems with ditf and so i mostly agree with you. i will say though that i think that the early writing was GOOD because it set up tone and the mystery of
