Because its a 5 frame window and you have to do so many inputs that can waste frames (shine - jc - wavedash -dash - hold till run - shine) and this is assuming you go for a one frame link to begin with, which is inherently inconsistent w polling...

5 frames doesnt sound like much but I find it more consistent than I would think. There is suuuch a big reward to it also. its annoying to have upthrow be the best option there

Its certainly possible to do it in a vacuum but try it in real matches and you'll see. Several of the inputs will result in you getting nothing if ur even 1 frame early

Yeah I think this is fair. I'm going to try it out and see where it goes and hope that others do as well. I just want to advance things as much as possible, and I'm tired of not having good punish options on marth in certain situations

I feel you, ive labbed this over and over again for the past year+, sadly i think its simply wasting time better spent elsewhere. Fox just has a bad punish game marth, best thing is to gimp/mix things up and hope they suck sadly.

Thats the point I am at for waveshine uair since its simply too ridiculous. The 5 frame window on the running shine opening up more punishes is enough for me to try and go for it. I agree that his punish game on marth is bad. I play v marth the same way now :(

Well uair isnt something that id ever go for either, but at least that one is okay if youre late, unlike run shine which will likely leave you in a bad spot/grabbed if ur slow/too fast.

Its definitely risky but it makes things a lot better for fox if you could get it right imo

Might as well just go for frame 15 ledgedashes and triple sdi on every move with that logic. That isn't how melee works in practice and i think u know this

You're equating it with inputs that I find massively more difficult than this one. melee is definintely not perfect in practice and I don't suspect this is something easy to implement, just something that fox COULD practically do imo if time was spent training it

those other things are at least applicable more often. Melee is full of things that u can learn to be more consistent and there will be some reward, but time spent practicing this is time u should spend on something with better return.

After like 1 day spent on this I'm hitting this input sooooo many more times than your responses would indicate. With super bad wavedashes and in reverse directions etc. Its okay to disagree on practicality but I think you should try it more, its not as bad as u think

Tbh I believe ure not accurately seeing this situation at all, and youre just being stubborn with ur method without testing the other better ones, but regardless gl with it, lets agree to disagree.
