1. with almost certain instant death if you air Dodge off stage (or you're required to recover OD low) how aren't there good edge guarding options? Although there are magnet hands it is much harder to get on the stage after grabbing the ledge compared to Melee.

3. how is an air Dodge read 50/50 if you can time an aerial correctly so you still get the punish if they air Dodge? Smash 4 had air Dodge 50/50s. I think the amount in this game will be incredibly low.

most characters in smash 4 and Ultimate play incredibly similar, and its not looking to change with how they are more concerned with bringing more different characters in than different playstyles. most characters are the dullest version of themselves (snake fox etc) -

and the new "changes" seem to be far more universal than specific. In a game where everyone plays the same, short hops the same, dashes the same, has a 7 frame land lag aerial with good aerial mobility, no throw that combos, the playstyles are likely to be incredibly similar.

I think it's too early to judge. Everyone is playing it like Smash 4 because they're used to it just like when S4 came out they tried to play it like Brawl at first. No one is moving properly, peeps are still rolling without punish, and no one is taking advantage of parrying yet.

whether or not the overall playstyle changes wont change the fact that the characters are hollow shells of their former selves. basically every character tech from a different game has been taken out.

I totally get it. I actually think our conversation has been pretty productive. I do think many of the things you're asking for will show themselves in the metagame if there aren't drastic changes to the current build in the future.
